Cafe Ceramique is a combined restaurant and ceramic painting studio. The store just opened in November at its new location, so everything is brand new and spotlessly clean. We came in at about 4pm on a Saturday during Hajj, and the place was empty, except for the helpful staff.
We were given menus right away. We all ordered drinks and set off to find our ceramic pieces. The
choices include mugs, platters, miniatures of famous buildings, animals and I even found a shelf of Santas and Christmas trees! The small pieces were 15sar and the prices increase from there depending on size. It was a difficult choice, but I came back to the table with a mug, and my son decided a Halloween tea light holder was the way to go.
We were each given a place mat to lay our pieces on, which also showed all the colour choices. Each colour had a corresponding code which we wrote on a tag and gave to the employee. My son was wrapped up in a plastic jacket to protect his clothes, our paints arrived, and we got to work. I envisioned a relaxing time, painting and chatting and making lovely memories. My son finished painting in about five minutes, then wanted to go somewhere else. I think this is a great place and a great concept, but maybe it’s not the best way for a 4 year old boy to spend his afternoon. Live and learn!
Cafe Ceramique offers a full menu complete with appetizers, all-day breakfast, sandwiches, pizza and entrees. The drinks are about 20sar and I recommend trying one. I had the orange and basil fresh juice and it was fantastic. My husband’s mochaccino was a work of art. Of course, perfection takes time, so you may have to be patient for your bevvies.
Once you have filled your belly and finished painting your masterpiece, your work is done. Staff will glaze and fire your piece within 7 days. Then, you can return to collect it. If you don’t get a chance to finish your piece during your visit, you can bring it home and finish it next time.
Cafe Ceramique offers 3 birthday packages. The package you choose will determine the piece of art that your child will get to paint, plus face painting and sand art. Prices are 90 Sar per child, 100 Sar per child, or 120 Sar per child. The minimum number of guests for the party is 15 and the children can choose between pizza, burger, nuggets, mac n’ cheese and are all served with a soft drink included in the price of the package you choose.
